LeBron James reportedly excited to play with Lonzo Ball on Lakers

Four-year veteran Julius Randle agreed to a two-year, $18 million deal with the Pelicans, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, only hours after losing veteran point guard Rajon Rondo to the Los Angeles Lakers. As expected, they extended him the qualifying offer to make Randle a restricted free agent. Randle is more of a ball-handler and off-the-dribble threat.

Rondo did have a memorable clash with another Lakers point guard when he and Isaiah Thomas got into a scuffle and were ejected, along with Walton, during a Valentine's Day meeting in New Orleans last season. The four-time All-Star played eight-plus seasons in Boston and won an National Basketball Association championship with the Celtics but has been a journeyman of late, spending time with Dallas, Sacramento, Chicago and New Orleans in the past four seasons. The Lakers become Rondo's sixth team. James told Los Angeles executives this week he likes Ball's game and "is excited to play with him", according to ESPN. After all their moves Sunday and Monday, the Lakers have $5.6 million left under the salary cap, which could rule out another big free-agent signing. They signed Elfrid Payton to a one-year deal, but are likely still in the market for a point guard given Payton's limitations.
