Trump proposes arming up to 40% of United States teachers

Trump Slams Gun Free Zones During Listening Session on School Shootings

President Donald Trump has ordered his Justice Department to ban rapid-fire bump stocks like the ones used in last year's Las Vegas massacre- but officials aren't sure they can.

LaPierre's attack on the FBI and oblique references to the Russian Federation investigation appeared a signal to Trump to remember his true friends, amid signs the President is ready to reject several NRA positions on gun control.

The additional guns would be inside schools.

Almost 100 Nigerian schoolgirls are still missing three days after suspected Boko Haram militants raided their school in northeastern Nigeria, parents said Thursday.

"We have to do something about maybe what they're seeing and how they're seeing it", Trump said. The president slammed gun-free zones, saying they were like "ice cream" to killers. We need solutions that will keep guns out of the hands of those who want to use them to massacre innocent children and educators.

"Anyone who wants guns in schools has no understanding of what goes on inside them - or worse, doesn't care", the union's president Randi Weingarten said. "It may be 10 percent, it may be 40 percent". And what I would suggest doing is the people who do carry, we give them a bonus, we give them a little bit of a bonus.

Trump said that he would fix the issue of mass shootings in schools, even though it had been a problem for years.

The idea faces potentially insurmountable resistance. Trump said he spoke Wednesday night with many members of Congress and "they're into background checks".

A girl with a megaphone read out the names of the 14 students and three teachers killed at Stoneman Douglas as the crowd held their arms up in the air. Teachers and students fled as the girls were taken away in trucks, the BBC reported.

"There are a number of school districts in MA, including the one where my kids went to school, where you have resource officers who are police officers in many of your schools at various times during the day, sometimes the whole day", he added. "Raise age to 21 and end sale of Bump Stocks", Trump said in a series of tweets on Thursday.

These ideas face challenges from the right. The NRA on Wednesday announced it opposes raising the age limit. NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre blamed Democrats for wanting to strip Americans of their second amendment rights.

In his tweets Thursday morning, Trump repeated his support for the NRA.

"And I'm pissed because my daughter I'm not going to see again". I think there are a lot of people who if they are - a lot of teachers who aren't now trained would be willing to get trained. They love this country.

At one point, Trump said he wanted to go "off script" because his prepared speech was "boring". Still, gun owners are a key part of his base of supporters.

But those more modest measures have been thwarted in the past by opposition on the right.

In a conspiracy-laced tirade at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, LaPierre signaled that the NRA would make no concessions.

In the week since the shooting, students from the school have been calling for gun law reforms at the state and federal level.

Spokeswoman Dana Loesch pointed to the journalists in back of the room.

There are few examples available of armed citizens stopping mass shootings and it is hard to track, in part because it is hard to know what a gunman was planning before they were stopped.

"You have one guard and he did not turn out to be good", Trump said. But I am saying that you love the ratings. "Where's the CNN town hall for (black mothers in) Chicago?"

"Perhaps, a better idea would be for the federal government to provide funding to increase the number of security officers in schools". It should not be easier to shoot up a school than a bank or a jewelry store, he added. "Evil must be confronted immediately with all necessary force to protect our kids". "The NRA is ready to do things", Trump said. "Could this time be different?"
