Nicole Eggert details abuse allegations against Scott Baio on "Today"

Scott Baio's Wife Renee Fires Back at Nicole Eggert's Molestation Claims

"For me it was always protecting the show", Eggert said, defending herself from those who say she was consensually involved with Baio, and has spoken positively about him in previous interviews.

As we previously reported, Nicole Eggert accused Scott Baio of molesting her between the ages of fourteen and seventeen during production of the classic sitcom Charles in Charge. Nicole claimed that Scott, someone she said she believed was her friend and someone she could trust, allegedly penetrated her with his fingers on the set of the show just shortly before her 15th birthday. "If you have a real claim, you go to the real people". "For 30 years, I've held in the embarrassment and shame of being abused daily on the set of Charles in Charge". Eggert insists that a almost 30-year-old Baio coerced her into having sex when she was 17, while he claims the encounter took place after filming, which would have made Eggert over 18. "And he was also telling me, you know, you can't tell anybody, this is illegal, I'll go to jail, the show will be over, we'll all get sued. And that it when the sexual abuse and touching started". A representative for Baio didn't immediately respond to The Associated Press. "The reason I'm doing Facebook Live is because no one can edit me", he said.

In statements before Eggert's interview aired, Baio said he and Eggert had a consensual relationship when she was over 18 years old.

Though Eggert and Baio are in agreement that they were once intimate, it is her age that continues to be called into question.

Baio claims that they did have sex but it only happened when she was eighteen.

After an ad break, the interview continued; she was joined by Lisa Bloom who said she had been brought in after Eggert received "bullying letters from [Baio's] lawyer". Her platform was Twitter, and she wrote: "Ask @scottbaio what happened in his garage at his house when I was a minor".

The actor acknowledged that they had sex, but he said the one encounter occurred after "Charles in Charge" was off the air and, therefore, after Eggert turned 18.

"If I could go back to a younger Nicole, I would tell her that she doesn't have to be ashamed", she told Kelly.

The actress shared her story with Megyn Kelly following a Saturday tweet she posted referencing the alleged abuse.

Kelly also showed that former Charles In Charge actors Alexander Polinsky and Andy Carl both said Eggert had told them about the abuse. Who does that? Just setting aside the fact that she was 14, why are guys just pulling their dicks out or going straight to fingering? Watch her emotional interview. "She said, 'he molested me as a child and I didn't know any better'".
