Jeff Bezos I'm Now the $100 Billion Man!!!

Jeff Bezos Of Amazon Now Worth $100 Billion Thanks To Black Friday

Bill Gates, who is now worth $86.8 billion, would be worth approximately $150 billion if he had not given approximately 700 million Microsoft Corp. shares and $2.9 billion in cash to charity since 1996.

Bloomberg reported that the Amazon CEO's fortune surged $2.4 billion to $100.3 billion, after the retailer's shares grew more than 2 percent on Black Friday.

On Friday, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos became the only person with a $100bn (£75bn) fortune, seeing his wealth creep up by $2.4bn thanks to a 2% jump in Amazon's shares.

Founder and largest shareholder of Amazon, Jeff Bezos has not only become the richest person in the world, but also touched the United States dollars 100 billion-mark for the first time, according to a Bloomberg report. Gates hit the $100 billion mark back in 1999, and Bezos is the first since then to duplicate the feat. Bezos has once again knocked Bill Gates off the top spot.

As holiday shopping dies down over the next few weeks, Bezos' fortune could fluctuate to below the $100 billion mark.

Putting it into context, Bezos made $2.4 billion on Friday, enough by itself to propel a person into Forbes top 1,000 richest people on the planet.

At the start 2017, Bezos was the fourth richest person in the world and surpassed both Inditex founder Amancio Ortega and Berkshire Hathaway's Warren Buffet this year as well.

By comparison, Bill Gates' current estimated net worth stands at a paltry $86.8 billion (£65.1bn). Bezos' climbing net worth is due in part to an exceptionally profitable year for Amazon, which saw the acquisition of Whole Foods.

"I'm thinking I want much of my philanthropic activity to be helping people in the here and now - short term - at the intersection of urgent need and lasting impact", he wrote.
