Trump Applauds Five Former Presidents for Hurricane Relief Effort

"We came together. We helped one another and through it all we remained resilient", Trump said in a video message played during the "Deep From The Heart, The One America Appeal" concert at Texas A&M University's Reed Arena. Rough cut (no reporter narration).

On October 21, all five living former USA presidents took part in a benefit concert - One America Appeal - in Texas, to raise money for hurricane relief efforts.

His video statement was shown at Saturday's fund-raising concert.

Bush and Barack Obama attended the concert, and Lady Gaga, who made a surprise appearance, couldn't resist the photo op.

According to a press release from the office of George H.W. Bush before the event, so far the One America Appeal for Hurricane Relief - which was launched by the five former presidents on September 7 - has raised $31 million in tax-deductible funds from over 8,000 donors.

More than 60,000 people donated to the presidents' fund - helping generate millions for the victims of the natural disasters that battered America in recent months, according to the concert's organizers. Bush and Obama later made brief remarks appealing for national unity to to help those affected by hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.

The last time the five were together was in 2013, when Obama was still in office, at the dedication of George W. Bush's presidential library in Dallas.

The event was originally aimed at raising funds for victims of hurricane Harvey, which hit the Texas Gulf Coast on August 25 and killed more than 80 people. Shortly thereafter, all five ex-presidents appeared in a commercial for a fundraising effort known as "One America Appeal". His father, George H.W. Bush, then replies, "We love you, Texas".

A website accepting donations, OneAmericaAppeal.org, was created with 100 percent of proceeds pledged to hurricane relief.
