PM Modi to inaugurate first All India Institute of Ayurveda today

Participating in the National Ayurveda Day 2017 at Government Ayurveda College and Hospital, Erragadda, the Health Minister said that five new AYUSH (Ayurveda, Unani, Sidda and Homeopathy) hospitals will be inaugurated in the State in coming days.

'Ayush integrated into the public health care system will not be a decision just confined to files, but will be a practical reality, ' he said, and underlined that 'Ayush is not just a system of medicine but it brings in its ambit social, public and environmental health'.

He announced that fully equipped Ayurveda hospitals would be set up in every district and the government has shown its commitment by talking about integrating Ayurveda and allopathic medicine in the National Health Policy.

According to reports, around 1,500 participants from across the country are expected to attend the inauguration ceremony.also, the Ayurvedic Standard Treatment Guidelines developed by AYUSH ministry will also be released.

Modi further said that no country can progress if it forgets how to take pride in its heritage.

"There's a long list of benefits of Ayurveda", said PM Modi, adding that people are showing interest in traditional medicines.

He also asked experts from the field to find medicines which can, like allopathy, give immediate relief to people but without side-effects.

He concluded by saying that his government has constructed more than 5 crore toilets in the last three years.

"Yoga has spread across the world.the AYUSH ministry has done a good job", said PM Modi.

Modi claimed that efforts had been made in the past to destroy "India's strengths" and its traditions such as Yoga and Ayurved were belittled during the "era of slavery".

He said the Ayush ministry in collaboration with the Ministry of Skill Development should develop short term courses for students and farmers.

"Cleanliness crucial to strengthen preventive healthcare", he said. Medicinal plant farming can also help farmers boost their income, which is in line with the government's plan to double farmers' income by 2022, when India celebrates 75 years of independence.
