In the Wilkes-Barre area, AAA reports the average price per gallon at Wilkes-Barre $2.80 - it was $2.85 a week ago and $2.34 one year ago.

"The continued decline at gas pumps will bring the national average down another 5-10 cents in the week ahead".

Gas prices in Lancaster County fell again this past week, erasing more of the surge triggered by Hurricane Harvey, a new survey shows. IN and MI tied for the largest declines by price, though MI saw the largest decline in terms of percent to move below pre-Harvey levels.

Nationally, gas in San Francisco was the highest in the contiguous U.S.at $3.18 a gallon. "Since gas prices decline much slower than they rise, it could take a few weeks before they reach equilibrium".

"Gas prices are getting cheaper by the day", said Jeanette Casselano, AAA spokesperson.

Now, gas is still at an average of $2.59 - only a slight drop even though Harvey is gone and the other hurricanes didn't threaten gasoline production.

Companies have reported that roughly two dozen storage tanks holding crude oil, gasoline and other fuels collapsed or otherwise failed during Harvey, spilling a combined 140,000 gallons of fuel, according to an Associated Press analysis of state and federal accident databases.
