United States bombers fly off east coast of North Korea: Pentagon

China limits oil trade to North Korea and bans textile trade

U.S. Air Force B-1B bombers and F-15 jets, flying in global waters, carried out a show of force Saturday off the coast of North Korea aimed at countering what the Pentagon called Pyongyang's "reckless behavior".

Defense Department spokesman Dana White says in a statement that the mission shows how seriously the USA takes what he calls North Korea's "reckless behavior".

It said the operation over worldwide waters showed the seriousness with which Washington took Pyongyang's "reckless behaviour", amid rising tensions over North Korea's nuclear tests. "We are prepared to use the full range of military capabilities to defend the USA homeland and our allies", White said.

A U.S. Air Force B-1B Lancer, assigned to the 37th Expeditionary Bomb Squadron, deployed from Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota, prepares to take off from Andersen AFB, Guam, Sept. 23, 2017.

Jong Un responded saying the USA will "pay dearly", the AP reports.

Earlier on Saturday, officials and experts said a small natural disaster near North Korea's nuclear test site was probably not man-made, easing fears Pyongyang had exploded another nuclear bomb just weeks after its last one.

Kim in turn called Trump a "frightened dog" and a "mentally deranged USA dotard".

Tensions have continued to rise around the Korean Peninsula since Pyongyang carried out its sixth nuclear test, prompting a new round of United Nations sanctions.

The North, which says it needs nuclear weapons to protect itself against the threat of a United States invasion, responded on Friday with a rare personal rebuke from Kim, who called Trump "mentally deranged" and threatened the "highest level of hard-line countermeasure in history".

The rhetoric between Trump and Kim has grown exceptionally personal. -North Korea nuclear crisis, no one can be sure where this would lead or whether the North will even carry out its threat.

North Korea's state media issued a statement Saturday from the National Peace Committee of Korea describing Trump as "wicked" and "a rabid dog".

"It is not clear Kim Jong-un is receiving that message".

At the United Nations on Tuesday, President Donald Trump retaliated with equal aggression saying that he would "totally destroy" North Korea if the USA was forced to defend itself or its allies.

The September 3 detonation followed two intercontinental ballistic missile launches in July that brought Kim Jong Un's isolated regime a step closer to achieving its aim of being able to deploy a nuclear warhead over the continental U.S.

Trump also said China was imposing major banking sanctions, too, but there was no immediate confirmation from the North's most important trading partner.
