Dallas Cowboys wide receiver/kick returner Lucky Whitehead announced the return of his beloved dog that had been held for ransom. He had posted on Instagram Sunday that someone had broken into his home and stolen Blitz while he was out of town July 9.

Whitehead asked his Instagram followers to contact him if they know anything about his dog's whereabouts.

The post on Instagram went up Sunday and the National Football League player writes, "I strongly advise you stop and return my boy safely before it gets any worse". Let's hope that Whitehead gets Blitz back and fast. But he said he hasn't heard from them since then, and police told him that the calls came from an untraceable "burner" phone.

Whitehead told the news station he refused to give them $10,000, but agreed to pay an undisclosed amount of money for Blitz after first making sure he was OK.

The Dallas Cowboys receiver wrote about the dog-napping on his Instagram account, saying the puppy was stolen when he was away in Florida. Whitehead says he suspects the heist was "an inside job" and plans to talk to some people close to him.

Whitehead, whose real name is Rodney but has gone by the nickname "Lucky" since childhood, pleaded with the mysterious thieves to find it in their heart to return Blitz where he belongs.

But no matter what else, "I just want the dog back". In one of the videos, the rapper demanded $20,000 for the return of Blitz, and also called out several Cowboys-connected figures such as Dez Bryant and Jerry Jones. "It hurts because I don't know how he's being treated". I was willing to do what I had to do [to] get him back.
