Delta fires back at Ann Coulter after she rages about seat reassignment

Ann Coulter

Delta Air Lines has hit back at what it called a "public attack" on its employees and customers after conservative pundit Ann Coulter posted a series of angry tweets over an in-flight seat mix-up she experienced over the weekend.

Delta first became aware of the issue with Coulter's seat assignment when she began tweeting on July 15 after the flight's arrival.

According to her, they had given her seat to a person who was neither old, nor a child, nor sick, nor an "air marshall or a tall person".

When the flight was boarding, Delta said that it "inadvertently moved" Coulter to 15A, another window seat on the same row, in order to "accommodate several passengers with seating requests".

Delta said Coulter originally booked seat 15F in the exit row, but then changed to seat 15D - an aisle seat - within 24 hours of departure.

More news: Donald Trump's approval hits record low

Delta said as well that its social media and customer care teams had tried to reach out to the political analyst on several occasions to make an apology, but had received no feedback from her until late Sunday night.

Calling Delta the suckiest airline in the world and the worst for putting "some woman" in her extra room seat drew little sympathy from those who objected to the fact that the author and commentator made her name, (as described by the Independent), "by pushing a hardline anti-immigration stance and who praised Mr. Trump's June 2015 speech accusing Mexicans of being "rapists".

The right-wing commentator followed up the tweet with a photo of the flight attendant she claimed told her to give up the seat for another passenger.

The statement by Delta went on to say that Coulter's behavior had been unacceptable and unnecessary.

Though she accomplished what she wanted by publicly airing her displeasure with Delta, Coulter was specifically rebuked for tweeting the picture of the woman who was placed in her seat.

Did Coulter overreact? Should a company still be held accountable to offer consumers what they paid for?

"Delta expects mutual civility throughout the entire travel experience", the statement said.

Hell hath no fury like a victimized Ann Coulter.

Delta said that all passengers complied and crew members reported no problems.
